Over 25 years of networks, and 14 of classrooms
My name is Gianni Olivieri, and for over 25 years I have worked in the world of ISPs, WISPs, and system integration: Linux, networking, wireless, and programming are my daily bread and butter. For 14 years, I have also spent many days in classrooms full of technicians with their laptops open.
I am a certified MikroTik trainer since 2012 (certificate TR0135) and a certified consultant. I teach certification courses at the SICE Telecomunicazioni academy, in Capannori (Lucca), both in-person and online: from MTCNA, the first step, to Engineer-level courses on routing, switching, wireless, and security.

The right command is not enough
In the classroom, I learned something that no manual writes down: the right command is not enough. You must understand why the packet takes that path, and what happens when it does not. That is why my courses spend a lot of time in the lab and break quite a few configurations. All on purpose.
Why MikroTik Dojo
MikroTik Dojo was born from that. It is the place where I gather what is truly needed by those who configure RouterOS every day:
- firmware updates and security advisories, explained without beating around the bush;
- the course calendar.
When I do not have a terminal open, I usually have headphones on: rock, metal, punk, from the ’70s onwards. Or I am in front of a chessboard: chess is my other great passion, and it resembles network troubleshooting more than it seems. You think a few moves ahead, and one distraction costs dearly.
