MTCINE is the most advanced routing course: BGP for exchanging routes with other operators and MPLS for efficiently transporting traffic within a large network.

Who is the MTCINE course for?

  • ISPs and operators that have their own AS or connect to multiple providers
  • Those designing large-scale backbones
  • Those who hold the MTCRE certification and want to complete the routing path

What are the requirements for enrollment?

A valid MTCRE certification.

What is covered in the MTCINE course?

  • BGP: autonomous systems, iBGP and eBGP, multi-hop and loopback
  • BGP: filters, route distribution, best path selection and attributes
  • BGP: route reflector and confederations
  • MPLS: static labels, LDP, penultimate-hop-popping, MPLS traceroute
  • VPLS based on LDP and BGP, split horizon, control word and L2MTU
  • VRF, route leaking and BGP-based L3VPN, OSPF as the CE-PE protocol
  • Traffic engineering: RSVP, static and dynamic paths (CSPF), bandwidth allocation and limitation

How is the course conducted?

The course usually lasts two days (three in some editions), held in the classroom at the SICE academy in Capannori (Lucca) or online. There is extensive hands-on lab work on real routers: knowing the right command is not enough; you must understand why the packet takes that path. The official exam is always conducted in person: at the end of the course for classroom editions, and in a classroom setting for online editions, on a date to be agreed upon with the organizers. Passing it grants the MTCINE certification, which is verifiable on the MikroTik website.
