MTCWE is the wireless course: from 802.11 standards and antennas to the tools for choosing frequencies, aligning links, and understanding why a radio link is underperforming.

Who is the MTCWE course for?

  • WISPs and those who build radio links
  • those who install and maintain MikroTik wireless networks
  • those who need to diagnose unstable radio links

What are the prerequisites for enrollment?

A valid MTCNA certification.

What is covered in the MTCWE course?

  • wireless installations: routers, RouterBOARD hardware, radio cards, and antenna types
  • 802.11 a/b/g/n standards, bands, channel width, and frequencies
  • wireless tools: scan, frequency usage, spectral scan, snooper, align, and sniffer
  • client diagnostics: registration table, ack-timeout and distance, CCQ, TX/RX signal, data-rate
  • advanced settings: HW-retries, HW-protection, adaptive noise immunity, WMM

How is the course conducted?

The course usually lasts two days (three in some editions), held in the classroom at the SICE academy in Capannori (Lucca) or online. There is extensive hands-on lab work on real routers: knowing the right command is not enough; you must understand why the packet takes that path. The official exam is always conducted in person: for classroom editions, at the end of the course; for online editions, in a classroom at a date to be agreed upon with the organizers. Passing it earns you the MTCWE certification, verifiable on the MikroTik website.
